Discover the Secret Life of the Forest in the Great Yorkshire Forest

In 2020 you may have watched the Channel 5 programme “Secret Life of the Forest”, which focused on the natural history and nature of the Kielder Forest.  Now in 2023 it’s the turn of our local forest “The Great Yorkshire Forest” to be in the limelight.

The new eight part “Secret Life of the Forest”, narrated by Robert Lindsey, explores the nature of the forest  – made up of Dalby, Cropton and Langdale forests and the lives of the staff that look after them.  All three forests have something to offer.  From Cropton and its beavers. Dalby with its visitor centre, mountain bike trails and easy cycling routes. Through to the remoteness of Langdale Forest despite being less than 10 miles from Scarborough.

The “Secret Life of the Forest” starts on Channel 5 at 2000hrs on Wednesday the 15th of February and will be available on catch up on demand as well.

With “Robson Green’s Weekend Escapes” also running on TV this year and “The Hairy Bikers Go North” last year, North Yorkshire and especially the area around Cliff House Holiday Cottages is becoming a bit of a destination for TV shows.

How close is Cliff House Holiday Cottages?

From Cliff House you have direct access in to the back of Dalby Forest and the car parks of Crosscliff and Bickley Gate, avoiding the toll road. Driving beyond Bickley Gate the road leads to remote Langdale End and Broxa which gives you access in to the Langdale Forest and the walks and trails there.  Why not book your next holiday with us here at Cliff House and experience The Great Yorkshire Forest for yourself?
